How do I get a referral to a dietitian?
To see a dietitian under Medicare, you will need to get a referral from your doctor via the Enhanced Primary Care Plan.
Your GP will assess whether you are eligible for Dietitian rebates under the Enhanced Primary Care scheme. You must have this plan arranged and confirmed by your GP, prior to your dietitian appointment.
How much does it cost to see a dietitian?
You can view the fee structure for Essendon Sports Medicine’s Dietitians HERE.
You will be required to pay for the full consultation fee, then we will help you claim the Medicare rebate on the spot, using our HICAPS machine and your Medicare card. This will save you a visit to the Medicare office, and the funds are generally back in your account within 24 hours. Please be aware that we are not a bulk billing clinic.
How many sessions can I have with a dietitian?
The number of sessions that you are eligible for depends on your individual circumstances, though generally there are up to 5 sessions available that you can claim a rebate for.
